About the Role:
We are seeking an experiencedSQL Database Administrator (DBA)to join our growing technology team in Ireland. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing, maintaining, and optimizing our SQL Server infrastructure while supporting high availability, performance tuning, and security best practices. Experience withAzure SQL Databaseand cloud infrastructure is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and tune SQL Server databases (on-premise and Azure)
- Implement and maintain database security, backups, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
- Monitor database performance and proactively identify performance bottlenecks
- Work closely with development and DevOps teams to optimize SQL queries and stored procedures
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patches
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and availability in line with business SLAs
- Automate administrative tasks using scripts (T-SQL, PowerShell, etc.)
- Document systems, configurations, and procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for critical incidents as required
Key Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in a production environment
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and newer)
- Proven knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning and optimization
- Solid understanding of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options
- Experience with Azure SQL Database and related cloud technologies
- Familiarity with Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Azure Monitor, and security controls
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, T-SQL, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Right to work in Ireland
Desirable:
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA: SQL Server)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or ARM templates
- Exposure to DevOps environments and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL)
